Anything worth doing is worth doing right. Meet Shane Balkowitsch, an ambrotypist doing wet plate collodion work out of Bismarck, North Dakota. I didn’t pay them to do this and I make no money from the film, but I think it gives people a good glimpse into what I am trying to achieve and I am honored that it has been made. The film is available for digital purchase through Amazon Prime for $12.99 or to rent for $5.99. Many of his Native American photos have been permanently curated by the North Dakota Historical Society. We are two filmmakers from Bismarck, ND embarking on our first official documentary film. 'Her' is Chelsy Ciavarella and 'Him' is Greg DeSaye. We started Her, Him & The Fellas after we began producing our first documentary film in May 2018 called "Balkowitsch" on wet plate artist, Shane Balkowitsch. DeSaye, after meeting Balkowitsch in April 2018 and being impressed by his passion and artistry, knew right away this was a story worth telling. Their first shoot was May 25, 2018.
